Jérôme Cathala

Jérôme Cathala, Director of News Magazines at France Télévisions and designated CFI Director by France Télévisions, has now been elected Chairman of the CFI Board. He succeeds Jean Réveillon who has been appointed Director of France 2.
Aged 51, with a degree in law, this CFPJ graduate and former auditor at the IHEDN started out in 1986 as reporter for France 3 Ile-de-France and TF1. In July 1987, Jérôme Cathala joined the national newsroom at France 3 before moving on to France 2 in 1994.
He put in a stint as Permanent Correspondent in Berlin for France 2 (1995/1997) then Chief Editor at the Home Politics Department of the national newsroom at France 3, also contributing to the setup of the France Télévisions Foundation. In 2002, Jérôme Cathala was on the Steering Committee for the international news channel, now France 24.
In January 2004, he became Regional Director for France3 Sud, then in July 2009 he was appointed Director of the national newsroom at France 3.
In January 2010, he was appointed Director of national newscasts at France 3 and Director of local news.
Since December 2010 Jérôme Cathala has been Director of news magazines at France Télévisions.
