"No Coral, No Maldives" Awarded the Eco Film Prize at the Science Film Festival 2011
In 2010, CFI and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD), backed by the Programme des Nations unies pour l’Environnement (PNUE), co-produced the documentary No Coral, No Maldives with the Maldives National Broadcasting Company (MNBC).
This 13-minute film has just picked up the Eco Film Prize at the Science Film Festival 2011.
It was produced during a training workshop headed up by 3 specialists, Pascale Chabanet, Professor of Marine Biology, Luc Riolon, writer and producer of scientific documentaries and Nalaka Gunawardene, Managing Director of TVE Asia Pacific.
The film’s aim was to show how important it is to protect the coral reefs both for the survival of the Maldives and to sustain key resources for the economy including tourism and the coral reefs.
