Media cooperation in Tunisia

In the wake of the Tunisian revolution, France Télévisions and CFI wished to bring French expert knowledge to the state media, which had just committed to radical liberation of their profession.

A staggered response:
-  an audit of the local situation and pressing expectations
- a batch of desperately needed equipment sent
- a meeting of major financial backers at UNESCO in Paris
- a series of training assignments at the Tunisian newsrooms
- joint financial support from European Broadcasting Union (EBU) members

Cooperation initiatives:
The cooperation initiatives set up have set a new record in media cooperation history for a single nation over such a short time.

In six months, French cooperation has involved:
- 20 assignments in the field
- 34 experts dispatched
- 164 days of knowledge transfer
- €170,000 invested by French cooperation
- €30,000 in joint funding from Tunisian contributors
- Around a hundred professionals benefitting from one or several workshops
